My work

The Irish landscape has always been the central inspiration in my work. Over the years, I’ve explored the richly textured terrains of counties Wicklow and Leitrim through printmaking, focusing on the fleeting and atmospheric moments that define a place.

My practice seeks to capture the essence of a given moment—just before rainfall, after a fresh snowfall, or as dusk settles. I’m drawn to the subtleties of colour and detail that emerge in everyday settings—suddenly glorious in their ordinariness. These split seconds become the foundation for work that conveys mood and atmosphere rather than literal representation.

Lately, I’ve been working in a small square format, producing prints of identical dimensions. This consistency allows me to experiment with varying foregrounds, backgrounds, plates, and colour palettes, each combination producing a unique visual resonance. The intimate scale encourages close inspection, inviting the viewer to pause and discover the intricate details—capturing, in essence, a sliver of time.
